Redeem’s mission is to protect widows and orphans from violent abuse and exploitation by:
- Awakening the world to the need to defend the orphan and the widow in the twenty-first century;
- Assembling the resources needed to protect the world’s most vulnerable widows and orphans;
- Assisting law enforcement in real cases that restore victims and restrain their abusers; and Amplifying law enforcement protection through community engagement and capacity building.
About the Project:
We are currently implementing a program in Uganda to protect widows and orphans from the devastation of predatory eviction with plans to expand our defense of the vulnerable into other countries in the future.
Job Summary: As a Redeem Program Manager, you will lead the efforts of your team to engage in casework that restores predatory eviction victims to their homes, restrains the criminals who abuse them and rehabilitates survivors, enhancing the deterrent impact of that casework through targeted capacity building and community engagement efforts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leadership Supporting the National Director and national chrleadership in setting and refining Redeem’s Uganda strategy;
- Ensuring that all team activities are consistent with Redeem’s Mission, Vision, Hedgehog and Strategy; Fostering a culture of Christian excellence on your team that is consistent with Redeem’s core values;
- Leading Redeem’s professional development and spiritual formation activities for your team;
- Management Supervising the members of your team to ensure the achievement of the desired programmatic results;
- Coordinating team activities to ensure efficiency and appropriate allocation of resources and workload;
- Managing the performance of team members through Redeem’s performance management system;
- Collaborating with the national operations staff to ensure the team receives needed operational support;
- Ensuring that team activities are in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies;
- Ensuring that risks to the safety and security of staff, clients and partners are appropriately mitigated;
- Program Delivery Collaborating with the COO and national subject matter experts to enhance the impact of activities;
- Forming strong working relationships with law enforcement and other programmatic partners;
- Representing and advocating on behalf of Redeem with partners, governing authorities and the media;
- Identifying lessons learned and opportunities for improvement in Redeem’s programmatic activities;
- Tracking, evaluating and reporting on team and individual team member performance metrics;
- Miscellaneous Communicating with donors, supporters, media and other outside parties about Redeem’s work;
- Contributing to the review and design of organizational systems, guidelines and policies; Participating in Redeem’s professional development and spiritual formation activities; Supporting other teams within Redeem in the achievement of their objectives; and Completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent in criminal justice, law, social work, international development, business administration or similar fields;
- At least Eight years of progressive experience in the role of an attorney, an investigator, a social worker or similar position engaged in the provision or support of law enforcement services;
- Two years of experience supervising co-workers and/or managing a team;
- Experience in conducting casework similar to that of Redeem’s;
- Experience in working in a multinational and/or faith-based organization;
- Experience working with the UPF, DPP or other actors in the justice law and order sector;
- Fluency in English and Lugisu with excellent written and oral communication in both;
- Computer literacy with strong capacity in word processing, email and other systems; Confidence-enhancing public speaking, training and presentation skills;
- Good knowledge of basic laws of Uganda, criminal court procedures, and regulations;
- Understanding of Google business suite and digital project management tools; and
- Mature Christian faith;
- High degree of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness;
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and ability to work on a multidisciplinary team;
- Excellent independent professional judgement and ethical decision-making;
- Innovative and creative problem solving in the face of complex nuanced issues; Persistence and tenacity in the face of difficult problems or challenges;
- Commitment to meet deadlines and achieve results in fast-paced environment; and Love-motivated service orientation toward clients, colleagues, partners and adversaries.
- The Program Director will report to Redeem’s National Director and will be based in Mbale, working primarily in the Bugisu region with occasional travel throughout Uganda
