Kabale University (KAB) was established as a not-for-profit community institution in 2002 and it has transformed from a private into a public University. Kabale University is, therefore, a unique institution, enjoying the status of being the first ever institution of its kind in Uganda, to metamorphose from private to public – and having been granted a Charter – the last stage of accreditation by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.
Job Summary: To develop, review and implement policies relating to the effective utilisation of the human resources within the University.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains and updates programs, procedures and strategies for the University in line with Human Resource policies.
- Implements annual work plans for the University in line with human resource targets.
- Coordinates and implements of decisions of the University’s Council and sub-committees in line with Human Resource policy.
- Benchmarks best practices from other Universities and provide information for facilitating organization review and change in line with human resource policy and the University priorities.
- Coordinates and conducts performance management sensitization and training programs in line with the University guidelines.
- Coordinates the implementation of performance management policies and programs in line with the human resource Manual.
- Implements and reviews the performance management evaluation/assessment programs in line with human resource policy guidelines.
- Conducts performance compliance audits and provides technical guidance and support to units on the performance management process in line with human resource policy guidelines.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should have a Masters in either Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration (Human Resource Option) Public Administration & Management.
- Should have at least three (3) years relevant working experience in human resource management.
- Should have basic supervisory skills.
- Should have well developed interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
- Should be computer literate.
