Job Title:  Project Officer – Child Spiritual Nurture and Intergraded WASH in Education Projects (Fresher Jobs)

Job Summary:  To implement all projects (Dreams & WASH) activities in a timely and efficient manner that meets World Vision Uganda, and donor requirements in line with the approved Theories of Change (ToC) and contributing to sustained and improved child well-being. In so doing, the role will contribute to achieving increased number of Primary school children who can read. In addition, have positive and peaceful relationships in their families and communities through spiritual nurturing

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Project planning and implementation 

  • Plan and coordinate all projects (Dreams & WASH) based activities in consultation with the project coordinator
  • Supervise and monitor ongoing school based project activities for both projects (Dreams & WASH projects).
  • Ensure quality in rolling out of project models ensuring:
  • Celebrating Families and Positive parenting
  • Channels of Hope Child Protection
  • Spiritual Nature (Dare to Discover)
  • Empowered World View (Adults and Children)
  • Track and manage activity budgets and ensure timely and cost effective projects (Dreams & WASH) implementation.
  • Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports for both Dreams & WASH projects.
  • Participate in project management meetings and reflection forums
  • Support and participate in district education Advocacy initiatives and WASH meetings.
  • Ensure cross cutting themes are mainstreamed into the project implementation.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Project coordinator.

Technical support and training

  • Develop a project capacity building plan and mobilize participants for capacity building
  • Mobilization of and conducting trainings to build capacities on supporting enrolment, retention and completion
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to teachers and project participants to build local capacity for understanding and connecting with community linkages.

Identify technical experts to train district and community groups on the project models like:

  • Celebrating Families and Positive parenting
  • Channels of Hope Child Protection
  • Spiritual Nature (Dare to Discover)
  • Empowered World View (Adults and Children)
  • Liaise with the Project coordinator for technical support on capacity building.

Partnership and networking:

  • Work with churches and schools to enhance advocacy for child wellbeing by connecting churches to the work of World Vision Uganda in the area of child spiritual nurture.
  • Identify and build linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation of the project at the District level.
  • Mobilization of community members for project activities
  • Participate and represent WVU in key technical working forums at district,
  • Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with project education programming in the district
  • Conduct advocacy campaigns for education in general and positive parenting for learning
  • Project Documentation, Learning and Reporting
  • Compile progress reports (Monthly, Quarterly, Semi Annual and Annual) for management decision making in line with the projects implementation plans and donor requirements.
  • Promote utilization of data/information from progress reports, baselines, evaluations and other assessments at projects level through reflection and learning forums such as quarterly review meetings and management meetings or conferences for project partners.
  • Documentation of projects learnings, projects most significant change stories, best practices etc. in profiling the projects performance to stakeholders

Project Monitoring & Evaluation

  • To work with the MEAL team to conduct data collection and process data on projects activities as specified in the detail program implementation plans.
  • Plan and conduct projects (Dreams & WASH) output and outcome level monitoring as per the MEAL plans and share through monitoring reports on progress of the project in line with the results framework.
  • Support the MEAL to perform quarterly data quality assessments to ensure validity, integrity, precision, reliability and timeliness of all performance data
  • Together with the MEAL team, Support the baseline assessment for the project.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, social science or any related field
  • At least two years’ practical experience in education programming, experience supporting girl child education
  • Able to ride the motorcycle is a MUST with a valid ridding permit
  • Experience at working with pastoral communities is desirable
  • Experience in education programming, experience supporting girl child education
  • Experience in working with teachers and school management committees
  • Good Training facilitation and coordination skills
  • Excellent monitoring documentation and evaluation skills
  • Experience in conducting school mapping and report writing
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly motivated
  • Capacity/potential in leadership, relationship management/networking, and coordination.
  • Good interpersonal skills, team player, facilitation skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to take an evidence-based approach to programming
  • Spiritual maturity, interfaith knowledge and a biblical worldview – ability to articulate and model our Christian identity and mission in an inclusive way.
  • Ability to motivate, persuade, or convince others in order to achieve a desired outcomes or success?
  • Interpersonal skills such as the ability to motivate, persuade and or convince since most of the positions deliverables require delivering through others even when they are not the direct report/subordinates e.g. Technical Programme Officers and Area Programme Managers
  • Ability to work with communities
  • Willingness to stay upcountry
