Job Title: Procurement Officer (Fresher Job Opportunities)

About US:

Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a Statutory Body established by UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide for the control and development of technically sound and scientific meteorological services in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  To prepare procurement documents, review specifications and advice on procurement process and procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile schedules of procurement requirements;
  • Guide and advise suppliers and staff on correct procurement procedures;
  • Reference, verify and manage procurement documentations;
  • Liaise with accounts to facilitate timely payment to suppliers;
  • Verify and organize documentations relating to procurement for use by interested parties;
  • Prepare draft bid documents and procurement plan;
  • Enter sanctioned transactions in the IFMIS for further processing; and,
  • Advice end users on development of procurement specifications. Carry out research and develop various fields of meteorology;
  • prepare tailor-made meteorological products for cost recovery;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management plus a post graduate qualification in Public Procurement Management from a recognized awarding institution;
  • A Procurement Professional Course from a recognized awarding institution or in Procurement and or Supply Chain
  • Management/membership of chartered Institute of purchasing and supplies (CIPS) is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Public Procurement and Disposal laws having been obtained from a reputable institution.
