Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance & Operations Manager will play an integral role in the operation of Uganda’s Industry Enhancement Centre (IEC). This full-time professional position is focused on supporting the financial and operational management of the IEC. Specific responsibilities may include:
Financial and Operations Management
- Financial account management to include reconciling financial accounts with the home office, managing petty cash, managing relationship with payroll firm, processing payments to Ugandan companies/ consultants, including quarterly lease payments.
- Working with the home office to ensure proper financial accounting/ records keeping.
- Human Resources Management: Ensuring Ugandan employees are registered with appropriate authorities; personnel files are accurate; ensure HR processes are followed and updated.
- Procurements: Develop and manage consulting and subcontract agreements with support and advising from the Home Office.
Course development, maintenance, business and staff support
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of course materials and educational products for procurement, project and financial management and other courses related to finance and operations.
- Under the supervision and direction of the Director, coordinate the efforts of external course content development specialists.
- Administer assigned course curriculum to SMEs
- Provide ad hoc advisory to patrons on: supplier registration, basic business processes, basic oil and gas industry information
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in accounting acceptable in lieu of ACCA qualification.
- At least five years of professional work experience and ACCA Level III qualification or the equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible, and team-focused work environment.
- Previous experience in financial accounting and management role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced experience with Excel.
- Experience with accounting software
- Experience with course development and/or business/project management
- Advanced working knowledge of PowerPoint, and Word
- Eagerness to work in a start-up environment
- Experience with project management practices and software
- Familiarity with the oil, gas, and mining industries
