About US:
The Ministry of Works and Transport exists to formulate policies, plans, set standards, build capacity, carryout advocacy, regulate, monitor, and evaluate the works and transport sector. The Ministry also provides policy and strategic guidance to parastatal bodies under its supervision namely Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Standard Gauge Railway and Uganda Railways Corporation (URC).
Job Summary: The Division of Bridges is developing a design Unit that will handle in-house design and implementation of bridges and drainage structures across the country. This is an approach by the Ministry to ensure development of designs in short periods of time but also taking into consideration durability, cost effectiveness and sustainability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed layouts, plans, sections, elevations assemblies, working drawings and any other alterations and additions for ongoing projects upon request from Contract managers;
- Prepare mass-haul diagrams;
- Develop cut and fill volumes using existing survey and geophysical data;
- Work with project teams to execute projects on time and on budget;
- Prepare As-built for completed projects;
- Provide inputs for the preparation of the required reports
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Higher Diploma in Civil engineering or in any other related field from a recognized institution with at least five (5) years’ work experience in Civil Engineering or related field.
- The applicants MUST be well versed with CAD software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
