Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare Journal entries relating to taxes on imported services, utilization of store items (e.g. seals), joint facilities (EJAF), all to be posted by SSC.
- Coordinate, prepare and file accurate & timely monthly tax returns (VAT &WHT) Including Tax GL Reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely returns for provisional and final income tax returns to the Uganda Revenue Authority for TMEUL, GUL and TMUL.
- Prepare biannual deferred tax computations and advise SSC of the provisions to post.
- Prepare posting documents for customs postings and GPA reconciliations by SSC.
- Provide vendors with their WHT credit certificates as well as initiate Tax clearance Certificate requests as and when required.
- Liaise with URA and other external auditors in matters relating to tax as well as provide the necessary tax information for both internal and external audit purposes upon request.
- Review SSC reconciliations of assigned Tax balance sheet accounts ensuring they are matched and up to date.
- Initiate and validate SSC reconciliations of assigned vendors ensuring they are matched and up to date.
- Manage the accounting procedures related to the Entebbe Joint Aviation Facility (EJAF) monthly.
- Ensure accurate coding of invoices and other accounting documents for submission to SSC via the ticketing tool relating to foreign and product related suppliers.
- Participate in monthly and year end stock taking.
- Any other duties relating to the role as allocated by the chief Accountant.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a business-related degree with and/accounts qualification or both.
- MBA, CPA, ACCA and or Tax Administration qualification will be an added advantage.
- Three years working experience.
- Good analytical, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
