Our client in the Construction industry and Ready-Mix Concrete Business is seeking to hire a Head of Production reporting to the General Manager.
Job Summary: The Head of Production shall oversee production of concrete, general contracting operations and be in-charge of equipment and machinery repairs and maintenance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations and Projects Execution
- Liaison with other departments and clients on technical matters;
- Active participation and guidance of development and regular update of various departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
- Enforcement and adherence thereof to ensure efficient and effective operations at all times;
- Working with the HR Department; ensure the right staffing, skilling for the department staff;
- Ensure timely delivery of projects through appropriate project management and planning tools including proper scheduling and coordination of works and activities,
- Ensure proper costing and profitability of projects; by strict coordination and management of material costs, usage and stocks with the Procurement Department/Manager, including labor inputs;
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance at all times through observance of project specifications, the industry standards and codes, best practices and established company SoPs and procedures.
Equipment Repairs and Maintenance
- In-charge of the safety, road worthiness, appropriate usage and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and tools; both owned and hired.
- Ensure planned and timely equipment repairs and maintenance; hence always ensure equipment readiness,
- Keeping and regularly updating of the equipment usage and repairs tracker, as well as maintaining spare parts requirements projection and stocking schedule,
Reporting Requirements
Ensure timely submission of reports and minutes as follows:
- Weekly/Monthly – cost of operations and profitability,
- Weekly/Monthly – technical/production reports,
- Monthly equipment usage reports – deployment and scheduling,
- Monthly equipment repairs reports – equipment usage and spares requirements
Quarterly personnel reports
Other Functions
- Other functions and tasks as requested by the GM
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold Engineering degree in construction related sector / industry.
- At least five years of experience within the construction sector / industry.
- Concrete product production experience.
- Strong business process understanding.
- Proven background in project management with an ability to manage tasks.
- Evidence of experience and project portfolio will be required.
- Experience managing local suppliers and vendors.
- Experience in project liaison with clientele engineers and management representatives.
