Uganda Electricity Transmission Company limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling it in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. Job Summary: The Senior Accountant Finance & Treasury will mainly review management accounts and Financial accounts. The incumbent will assess, monitor, plan, reconcile and manage the efficient utilization of cash and banking services in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support for the financial reporting function for both annual and quarterly management accounts through reviewing bank reconciliations and cash transactions
- Act as a key relationship providing second level interface with company bankers
- Initiate and manage trade finance instruments such as documentary letters of credit and bank guarantees by preparing appropriate documentation and responding to term change requests as may be appropriate
- Verify all imprest replenishment claims
- Review and approve all treasury related journals
- Develop the budget for the Treasury and Management accounts units in accordance with the FPPM
- Act as a first line liaison officer in negotiating interest and forex rates.
- And to carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or its equivalent
- Full professional qualification e.g ACCA or ACA, CPA
- Seven to ten years’ experience as an Accountant in a busy organisation
- Computer literacy skills
- Familiarity with recognisable accounting package
