Job Summary:  To develop and drive Sales targets, Balance Sheet, Profit and loss targets for the Business & Institutional Banking segment, examine and lay strategies for business

growth, monitor and regularly report on segment performance, oversee product mix

development, and take responsibility for the Business & Institutional Banking performance in line with the bank policies and strategy.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivering the Business & Institutional Banking segment growth plan, including the development of budgets, and providing quarterly updates, execution, revisions, and modifications to the Plan.
  • Develop, execute, and manage the Business & Institutional Banking strategy and tactical business plan, considering the market opportunities/growth potential, competitor activities, existing capabilities, and risk appetite.
  • Agree target market selection and customer propositions within the strategy.
  • Devise and agree product and sales mix.
  • Define measurable business growth objectives, management processes and measures.
  • Define and develop a service-based sales culture.
  • Take responsibility for strategic management, business development and profitability of applicable business units/locations within the country.
  • Develop mechanisms for identification, recognition and reward for sales performers in line with the approved rates.
  • To supervise the Trade & Cash Management function by maximising the Bank’s earnings through sale of Trade and Cash solutions.
  • To oversee the growth of the bank’s liability portfolio in Partnerships and institutions namely; various arms of the UN Bodies like WFP, UNHCR etc, schools, law firms, Micro finance Institutions, Financial and Non- Bank Financial Institutions, Faith Based Organisations, Insurance Companies, Unincorporated entities as per the Bank’s strategy.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time.
  • Responsible for the Business & Institutional Banking Budget
  • Responsible for delivering the Business & Institutional Banking business & financial targets as will be agreed using deferent parameters esp. on product mix, customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets, and revenue growth.
  • Responsible for controlling costs within agreed budget of Business & Institutional Banking segment.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Business degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management or any relevant field from a reputable academic Institution.
  • Possession of a Certified banking qualification or Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
  • Relevant Practical training in business growth in the financial services sector
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Banking environment with at least 5 years in the Business (SME or Corporate) business function, should have been an SME or Corporate Relationship Manager for at least 5 years. Having been serving at a managerial level in this area is an added advantage.
  • The candidate MUST be familiar with trade finance and transactional banking solutions and should possess vast experience in serving this kind of clientele.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Business Development, Relationship Management, Negotiation and Credit Analysis.
  • The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
  • Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to take clear accountability and focus on delivery of broader corporate goals.
  • Ability to take decisions and progress towards achievement of goals in conditions of uncertainty.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive image and role model the bank’s values an desired leadership behaviours
  • The ideal candidate must be a person of an impeccable record of integrity.
