Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring all quality assurance activities are carried out in line with set company guidelines and policy, to ensure all products meet the established standards of quality including reliability, usability and performance. Assist the Quality Manager to develop, perform, and manage quality assurance activities and to comply with legal requirements by regulatory bodies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Quality Manager in provision of leadership and strategy in line with company strategic objectives.
- In collaboration with stakeholders, draft and approve integrated management system policies and procedures
- Interpret, implement, maintain and improve quality assurance standards and overall management system
- Identify the deviations from the management system and establish appropriate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, in consultation with the Quality Manager
- Implementation of integrated management system by covering QMS, FSMS and Laboratory standards and evaluating their adequacy
- Assist in the development, modification, verification and validation of methods and overall coordination of lab activities. He/she shall conduct all lab related activities in an impartial and confidential manner.
- Establish yearly competence testing programs for all laboratory personnel in liaison with the lab team leaders, Lab coordinator and Quality manager
- Assist the laboratory team leaders and coordinator in reviewing of test results
- Plan, Develop and execution of internal training program for the department
- Assist the Quality Manager to review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems
- Assist the Quality Manager in investigating customer complaints and non-conformance issues
- Collect and compile statistical quality data; analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality assurance system
- Sending samples to external lab for each product as per set frequency and applying product permit on time to meet all regulatory requirements
- Planning and execution of task related to fulfilling regulatory requirements
- Develop, recommend and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality assurance activities
- Identify training needs and organize internal/external training interventions for staff to meet quality standards
- Coordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external/third party auditors, evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with occupation health safety and environment regulatory requirements
- Responsible for managing and maintaining data bases and documents for all management systems, including quality and food safety management systems
- Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements
- Report the status of the quality levels of staff, systems and production activities.
- Keep up to date with all related quality legislation and compliance issues
- Assume a lead role for the preparation, conduct, and responses to regulatory agency.
- Compile and prepare materials for submission to regulatory agencies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology or any other related field from a recognized university.
- At least two years’ experience in a food industry. Well versed in ISO 9001, 22000 and 17025 implementation.
- Good Knowledge of product Registration.
- Should be aware of relevant local and international standards related to products and services
- Should be trained on HACCP, GMP, GHP practices etc,
- Should possess leadership and coordination skills
- Should be trained on quality and food safety Management Systems
- Should be a computer literate and have knowledge of SAP.
- Hardworking, honest and innovative.
