Job Summary: The Admissions Counsellor will be responsible for guiding prospective students regarding programs, admissions requirements, and degree completion requirements, as well as admitting and enrolling students into their desired program of study. This position performs student recruitment activities via electronic communication in addition to telephone and face-to-face meetings with prospective students.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide prospective students with the highest level of customer service through effective phone, electronic and face-to-face communication.
- Guide prospective students through the admissions process by demonstrating proficiency in the required qualifications for admission into the different programs offered by the University in line with the National Council for Higher Education admissions Guidelines.
- Conduct individual and group presentations to disseminate approved Cavendish University program information. This includes providing information to potential students with respect to program format, admissions, degree options, requirements, costs, and payment options.
- Use professional knowledge and perspectives to relate to potential students, establish professional rapport and add to the student experience.
- Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address and resolve student issues and ensure a positive student experience.
- Assist the prospective student by performing appropriate follow-up and coordination with team members. This includes working with employees in a team environment and providing accurate student information and assistance to other team members in and/or outside of their functional area.
- Assist students in making informed decisions by providing ethical, timely, accurate, and comprehensive enrollment options and program information.
- Act as a personal coach to help students select a degree, complete the enrollment process and make a smooth transition into the classroom.
- Be proactive in identifying potential barriers within the student enrollment process and initiates steps to resolve them.
- Monitor and manage student databases, student documents, and associated reports.
- Plans and carries out educational outreach activities to aid in the enrollment of qualified students.
- Demonstrates personal and professional integrity as outlined in the Cavendish Code of Business Ethics and consistently participates in scheduled enrollment and compliance training.
- Meet semester and other assigned enrollment goals/expectations and interpret information to improve performance.
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly, semester, and annual activity reports.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of admissions systems and practices.
- Conduct other duties commensurate with the position as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities
- Background working in customer service, retail, or recruitment environment in a university setting is highly desirable
- Previous admissions experience is helpful but not required.
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be customer service oriented
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work within a team
- Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to accurately convey University information as described above
- Must have an excellent command of professional presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to groups both large and small
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and to be a self-starter
