Job Title: Community Development Facilitator – Livelihoods

Food for the Hungry (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa with support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH’s primary goal is to end all forms of poverty World-wide. In Uganda, FH is operational in the Districts of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction; with the Head office located in Kampala.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise all livelihoods activities, provide training and technical assistance to farmer groups, VSLAs and exhaustively monitor project implementation
- This includes conducting surveys and assessments to determine training needs, mobilizing and sensitizing communities and stakeholders, forming beneficiary groups, designing and conducting training of beneficiaries in modern agriculture, business skills and essential Nutrition Practices, and post-harvest handling, supervision of the provision of seeds, tools, and other inputs.
- Visit/follow up of crop development, creation of market linkages, and periodically advise/support beneficiaries to ensure successful implementation of the project according to proposal log frame.

- Training and extension service delivery
- Coordination and reporting
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Agriculture, Food science and relevant work experience
- Training in basic household nutrition practices will be added advantage
- At least four years of practical field experience working in communities with agricultural and livelihoods practices and experience.
- Previous work in a refugee context is an added advantage.
- Knowledge in value chain development, income generating activities and VSLA is desirable.
- Experience in teaching/training adult learners.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in spoken Lusoga, Lusiki and written English is essential. Knowledge of the local language is a must.

- Vibrant personal relationship with Christ and demonstrate willingness to live in a ‘spiritual community
- Working knowledge of implementing multi-sectoral developmental projects
- Demonstrated interpersonal and mobilization skills and proactive problem-solving skills.
- A valid motorcycle riding permit, including the ability to ride and care for a motorcycle is a must for this job
