About US:
Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS) is a not-for-profit Collective Management Organization (CMO) licensed by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) under the Copyright Act of Uganda to represent Composers of musical works, Performers, producers, authors, publishers and performers of sound recordings respectively. UPRS is mandated to collect license fees from commercial users of music both public performance and broadcasting to distribute royalties to their respective rights holders.
Job Summary: UPRS seeks to engage commission-based Licensing Agents (with transport & airtime allowance) whose primary duty shall be licensing public users of music for the public performance license in line with the copyright Act 2006. Appointed Licensing Agents shall be required to have the ability to establish strong relationships across all levels both internally and externally with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
UPRS are looking for Licensing Agents to work in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, Gulu and Mbarara. Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Licensing Officer, the Licensing Agents shall have the following responsibilities:
- Licensing business that use music in the specified region of work;
- Creating awareness to the public about UPRS as CMOs for Ugandan right holders.
- Supporting enforcement exercises in line with the set procedures;
- Carrying out any other duty as may be assigned by the Licensing Officer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Must have at least a Diploma in Sales & Marketing, or any other related qualification, from a recognized institution.
- Must have at least one year of progressive working experience in a sales and marketing position. A good understanding of the creative sector and Copyright will be an added advantage.
- Must possess great reporting, communication and people relation skills.
- Must be an independent self-starter with pro-active approach to work and excellent follow through skills with attention to deadlines.
- Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to manage work relations in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Must be dedicated to aligning with company goals and policies in ensuring success.
- Must be someone with no criminal background (if successful, we will need a certificate of good conduct).
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and a good command of the English Language & relevant local languages.
