Job Summary: The Regional Scaling Coordinator will support the scaling of evidence-based interventions and tools in the African region, with a focus on building competencies and capacities of War Child African region and regional partners to implement interventions and tools that improve psychosocial wellbeing and resilience in children and youth. The role involves lobbying and developing understanding of the interventions and tools, organize and participate in adaption and contextualizing workshops and conducting online or face-to-face training with stakeholders and partners based in different countries across the region. The person will also support ongoing technical support and facilitation of blended learning paths.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supporting quality implementation of scaling interventions
- Coordinates and provides (face-to-face and online) training and capacity strengthening of facilitators, trainers, and implementers in several War Child MHPSS interventions and tools
- Provide technical support with adaptation and contextualizing of interventions and tools, including collective needs assessments
- Coordinates and provide technical support (regional) and capability building enhancing learning development of interventions and tools
Supporting scaling-up through sharing information, supporting local roll out and capturing learning
- Proactively engage international organizations, especially those with regional presence for adopting and scaling WCH (War Child Holland) evidence-based interventions.
- Supports the local roll-out and refinement of scaling processes in relation to the partner organization and external agencies objectives and specific target groups
- Collaborates with partner organizations and external agencies on capturing lessons learned through the establishment of a community of practice
Coordinate, network, and advocate for sustainability
- Represents War Child in internal and regional platforms and network groups upon request.
- Maintains a network of internal and external contacts relevant to scaling evidence-based interventions and tools
- Collaborates with advocacy and communications throughout the process of scale-up of our evidence-based interventions
- Engagement with local authorities and national governments on the adjustments, inclusion and/or adoption of interventions as part of national policies
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s degree or post graduate diploma in Psychology, Social Sciences or Social Development or any other related field.
- Specialist knowledge of current principles and practices of psychosocial support and child protection programming with children in (post)conflict areas.
- Should have a technical background in community-based implementation, mental health and psychosocial support for children, young people, caregivers and teachers.
- Should have experience working in countries affected by conflict.
- Should are connected to networks of practitioners and inter-agencies on MHPSS and interrelated thematic areas such as CP (Child Protection), Education and Youth empowerment with a focus on the African region.
- Should have strong capacity building, supervisory and training skills.
- Should have affinity with creative, recreational and movement-based activities for children and young people
- Should have a solid understanding of the adult learning needs and related approaches
- Should have a knowledge and practical experience in for evidence-based interventions and quality implementation
- Should have excellent English language skills working proficiency in French desired.
- Should have appreciation for the importance of and contextual adaptation of interventions
- Should thrive in solving problems and producing pragmatic solutions
- Should identify with War Child’s mission and values and are committed to working with us to scale our evidence-based methodologies for the benefit of children, young people, and their caregivers.
