About US:
The Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) was established under the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act of 2005 to provide for a successor corporate body to Radio Uganda and Uganda Television. It is mandated to provide national radio and television services. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
Job Summary: To defend and institute legal suits on behalf of the Corporation, advise on Court matters, draft legal documents, oversee criminal prosecution, draft and review contracts and handle land matters on behalf of the Corporation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice to the Corporation management on the impact of current and proposed legislation on the operations of the corporation.
- Provide advice on aspects of legal work, including cases where the corporation proposes to take legal proceedings or is cited in cases before Courts and Tribunals.
- Provide advice on contractual matters; undertake any necessary legal work and connection with acquisition, sale, leasing etc of the corporation’s sites and buildings.
- Where necessary act as counsel in Courts and Tribunals or instruct legal advisors/ counsel engaged by the corporation to deal with particular cases.
- Attest or counter sign corporate documents when authorized.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- LLB with Postgraduate Diploma in legal practice.
- At least two years general experience in legal practice including a period of advocacy.
