Uganda Electricity Transmission Company limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling it in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. Job Summary: The position is located at Lugogo Control Center and reports to the Senior Dispatch Engineer and its primary purpose is to focus on generation resources optimization, grid reliability, outage management, quality of supply and safety. Real-time Supervision of Power System operations with a focus on generation resources optimization, grid reliability, outage management, quality of supply and safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision of real time demand and supply balance (system frequency kept within +/-1% of nominal).
- System voltages maintained within +/-10% of nominal.
- Implementing planned outages and management of forced outages, including operational safety.
- Compilation of outages statistics.
- Optimal dispatch of available generation from cascaded hydro-power plants.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must have a Higher Diploma in Electrical engineering
- Two years of related work experience
- Knowledge on the use of SCADA systems in power system operations would be an added advantage
- Communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Team player
- Customer relations skills
- Computer skills
- Analytical skills
