About US:
Mandated by the Uganda Cancer Institute Act of 2016, the Uganda Cancer Institute is an autonomous body, with the mandate to, among others, undertake and coordinate the management of cancer and cancer-related diseases in Uganda. It is critical to the evolution of a National Centre of Excellence, providing specialized treatment and care for all types of cancer using all the available subspecialty expertise possible, as well as engineering oncology-centered research and training.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To examine correctness of payment requests, completeness of documentation and certify requisition or, transactions for further processing.
- To verify receipts, match and undertake on-line reconciliation of invoices and Local Purchase Orders for goods and services procured prior to effecting payments.
- To compile accountability returns, verify and retire advance ledgers.
- To maintain primary financial records and up-to-date books of account
- To prepare periodic reconciliations of financial statements and carry out monthly cash book reconciliations to bank statements;
- To verify payroll change requests and reports to ensure correctness
- of computations, payments and deductions; certify and follow-up approval and payment to beneficiaries.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting; OR an Honours Bachelor’s degree with a bias in accounting option obtained from a recognized awarding Institution, OR Full professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognized awarding Institution accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
- Must be computer Literate
- Planning and Budgeting
- Expenditure Management and Budget Control
- Financial Reporting; Risk management and Assurance
- Information Communication Technology.
