Job Title:  Youth Hub Caretaker (3 Fresher Job Vacancies)

Reports to: Head of Governance & Policy Advocacy Unit

 

About US:

Kabarole Research and Resource Centre (KRC) is a well-established NGO operating in the Rwenzori Region3 of Western Uganda. It was founded in 1996 with a research mission and a long-term commitment to understanding the measures and drivers of poverty and its solutions. KRC with support from WFP has since 2016 been working with refugees and host communities in Rwamwanja, Kamwenge District and Kyangwali, Hoima District of Western Uganda to implement the Agriculture Market Support (AMS) program with an aim of strengthening capacities of the smallholder farmers to transform their subsistence agriculture into commercial
production.This program achieved great milestone in terms of post harvest handling and access to microfinace.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Participate in project, Unit and Institutional planning and reflection meetings
  • Conduct mapping/assessment of existing youth groups and identify potential groups to participate in the youth programs.
  • Work closely with TEXFAD trainers to train the youth in Banana stem fibre extraction and handwoven crafts making
  • Provide mentorship support to the trained youth in Extraction of fibre and weaving
  • Support the trained youth in marketing their products within and outside the Rwenzori region
  • Organize youths to participate in trade Fairs
  • Mobilize the youth to benefit from the opportunities at KRC
  • Planning, Reporting and documentation
  • Support the youth hub coordinator to prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans
  • Produce timely and accurate activity, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
  • Comply with KRC policies for finance, procurement, transport and other policies.
  • Any other roles that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal Candidate must be a holder of a certificate or diploma in any of the following fields of study weaving, handcrafts making, banana stem fibre extraction.
  • At least one year working experience or active internship in any of the related fields above with a reputable institution.
  • Willing to work under extreme hardship with limited resources
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language and knowledge of the local languages spoken in Rwenzori region.
  • Sound written and oral presentation skills
  • Should have a DIT certificate/workers pass from a recognized institution
  • Must be Youth aged between 18-35
  • Female youth and PWDs are highly encouraged to apply.
