About US:

For almost 20 years, the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice’s (Kroc IPJ) Women, Peace and Security (WPS) programs have partnered with women peace leaders to drive forward the WPS agenda. To ensure this work includes the next generation of peacebuilders, the Kroc IPJ launched its Women Waging Peace (WWP) NextGen Initiative in 2019. This initiative creates intergenerational partnerships in which senior and junior women peacemakers collaborate to implement a peacebuilding initiative on a jointly identified need.

 

Job Summary:  This Scope of Work lays out the deliverables and compensation for the position of Uganda NextGen Advocacy Assistant. This position is a 5 month, part-time contract. The Advocacy Assistant will work with the In-Country Coordinator, Kroc IPJ staff, Uganda Women Waging Peace members, and the WWP Uganda Advisory Committee to implement this initiative.

 

In particular, this person will convene and facilitate training in order to share the good practices identified during the 2021 phase of the project with government and civil society actors in Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the In-Country Coordinator with event arrangements;
  • Convene and facilitate (virtually or in-person depending on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic) the intergenerational partners and relevant government and civil society actors;
  • Participate in Advisory Committee meetings;
  • Support the interview process with CSOs to inform the final learning/research output.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the peacebuilding field in Uganda;
  • 1-2 years of experience facilitating trainings for government and civil society actors;
  • 1-2 years of experience managing event and travel arrangements;
  • Knowledge of key concepts related to gender equality and the women, peace and security field.

 

NB: This list of deliverables is not exhaustive, and a complete work plan with activities will be developed and agreed upon between the Kroc IPJ and the Advocacy Assistant.

 

Compensation and Allowable Costs: The Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice will pay the Advocacy Assistant a total sum of $5,000 USD for work on this project, inclusive of all fees, expenses, and taxes that may result from the work. The amount will be paid to the Advocacy Assistant in two installments as follows: $2,500 upon signing the contract and $2,500 upon completion of the project. We are assuming a level of effort of 50% for a period of 5 months beginning on April 1, 2022. This contract will continue until August 31, 2022. This contract is available for extension based on project and funding availability. Each installment will be paid to the Advocacy Assistant upon receipt of a valid invoice.

 

Timeline: The anticipated start date for the contract is April 1, 2022, to run through August 31, 2022. The Kroc IPJ team and the Advocacy Assistant will set up and agree on a timeline for the overall project and periodic check-ins.
