Reports to: Deputy Director General Agriculture Technology promotion

 

About US:

The National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) is mandated to coordinate, oversee and guide agricultural research in Uganda. Over the years, NARO has generated technologies and products with Intellectual Property (IP) and commercial potential guided by relevant policies under her mission of innovating for sustainable agricultural transformation

 

About USAID Project:

USAID is partnering with NARO through Feed the Future (FtF) – NARO Funding Framework to strengthen NARO’s institutional capacity to enhance rapid and sustained commercialization of her research technologies for transformation of people’s livelihoods.

 

Job Summary:  The Senior Partnership Officer will support NARO in initiating, executing and maintaining partnerships that contribute to development of agricultural research products and services and enhance their promotion, commercialization and utilization for agricultural transformation

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In liaison with the Legal Office and Intellectual property (IP) office contribute to initiation, drafting and execution of partnership frameworks.
  • Profile and develop databases for previous, on-going and potential NARO partners.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the NARO partnership policy frameworks and development of policy implementation guidelines and tools.
  • Conduct network-building engagements with partners.
  • Monitor implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and frameworks signed with partners against the set results.
  • Conduct periodic performance review of the formalized partnerships with respective stakeholders.
  • Coordinate development of partnership continuity and sustainability plans to enable continuity of partnership outcomes.
  • Provide support to management of projects and partnerships including administration of MOUs and reporting activities
  • Liaise with and support NARO’s partners in branding for NARO’s recognition in line with NARO brands manual
  • Act as focal person for the implementation of the Feed the Future (FtF) Uganda Agriculture Research Activity
  • Ensure that all partnership activities and signed MoUs are in line with the NARO gender strategy
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Director General Agriculture Technology promotion for FtF Coordinator.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The Senior Partnership Officer is expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A master’s degree in Agribusiness management, business administration, public policy, governance or related fields.
  • Relevant professional experience of at least 7 years working with private or public reputable institutions
  • Experience in partnership management is desired
  • Excellent analytical written, facilitation and oral communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with good time management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
