Uganda Airlines is the flag carrier of Uganda. The company is a revival of the older Uganda Airlines which operated from 1977 until 2001. It began flying in August 2019.
Job Summary: The Public Relations Officer is responsible for supporting strategic, internal, and external communications in line with the Communications and Public Relations Strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the Communications and Public Relations Strategy.
- Support internal and external communications.
- Digital marketing management (Social media, Website, and other channels)
- Engage and support in internal communications activities for broad exposure of the Company.
- Provide research support for market trends globally and regionally.
- Support media relations by monitoring both local and international media. Monitor news media coverage.
- Reputation Management support. Identify and support responsiveness to any reputation risk issues.
- Events and branding management support for the Company.
- Support documentation, product, and visibility efforts.
- Stakeholder engagement and management; support the development and design of key strategies to impact the targeted stakeholders effectively.
- Supervise third-party service providers for communication.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda Airlines Public Relations Officer job must hold a University degree in Mass Communications or Journalism, marketing or advertising from a recognized university.
- At least five years of experience in a communication role with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Innovativeness and willingness to learn.
- Experience in and adequate knowledge of photography and videography.
- Website and social media management knowledge would be an added advantage
- Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills.
- Well-developed computer skills.
- Proven experience in dealing with and writing for the media including an interest in current news coverage.
- An understanding of the activities in the Aviation sector and
- A member of a relevant professional body will ab an added advantage.
- Time management skills to deliver material on time.
