Job Summary:  We are currently seeking to fill an intern position in the Global Fleet Unit of the Supply Chain Division based in Kampala, Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Regional Fleet Manager in Kampala, the candidate will carry out activities to support the expansion of Regional Hub services to third parties:

  • Support the fleet manager in upgrading the existing Global Fleet workshop in Kampala to provide maintenance services and repairs to other WFP units/divisions, as well as external partner’s (UN agencies)
  • Support the development of SOPs for the service provision of maintenance services and repairs to other WFP units/divisions
  • Support the implementation of a platform to digitalize the service provision process, from the request, to the billing of the service.
  • Use the fleet management system to generate/prepare periodic fleet and workshop based KPI reports
  • Provide support in monitoring performance and quality of the workshop, as well as customer satisfaction
  • Support in all aspects of the fleet and maintenance operations to enable effective management of operations.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Internship (Road Transport and Workshop Operations) job placement must be currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the past six months) in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related field
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months;
  • Excellent command of English; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems.
  • Ability to work in multicultural and diverse settings.
  • Proactiveness and excellent interpersonal skills and team spirit.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Working Languages: Working knowledge of English (proficiency/level C) is required.
