Job Summary: The Business Planning & Performance Analyst will evaluate the bank’s performance and outcomes & advise on how to make PBU more profitable through reduced costs and increased revenues and foster the bank’s efficiency. The role holder will be responsible for manipulating bank data using powerful analytical software and applications to prepare reports, evaluate outcomes and thereafter prepares reports or give presentations to the Business team. The role holder will be expected to provide professional input to the budgeting process by assisting in the distilling of strategic goals into annual business plans, write and present in a clear and insightful manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and define issues or problems that are less obvious.
- Brings structure and order to undefined problems and/or large scale problems, making them easier to address and solve.
- Uses systemic thinking and creativity in devising solution options.
- Evaluates relative costs, benefits and obstacles of potential solutions.
- Articulates or translates complex information in clear, meaningful and structured way.
- Thinks ahead to identify potential risks to service or performance
- Anticipates issues and risks and prompt corrective actions.
- Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the plans, pointing out material negative deviations and recommending prompt corrective actions.
- Monitoring and proactively analysing, on an ongoing basis, internal and external events that affect the Bank, so as to provide ideas and intellectual leadership for both short-term tactics and long-term positioning and vision;
- Provide professional input into the Bank wide annual business planning and budgeting process through distilling the Bank’s strategic goals into annual activity plans and advising senior management on the most efficient allocation of the tasks for respective departments and units;
- Responsible for the preparation of the CBO’s regular reports.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by Senior Management.
- Cost Saving & revenue growth Innovation targets as will be agreed from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Business degree in finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management or any relevant field.
- Possession of a Certified banking qualification or master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
- Relevant Practical training in Planning & Performance Analyst in the financial services sector
- Sound experience of at least two years as a Business Planning professional, preferably in the consulting or financial services industry.
- The applicant must hold a BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or any similar discipline with a clear analytical bias,
- You’ve gained significant, relevant experience in similar business analyst positions,
- Demonstrable financial acumen, including deep familiarity with concepts of forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis, as well as in root cause data interpretation,
- Intermediate to advanced-level proficiency in Excel; you’re comfortable with macros, pivots, lookups and more,
- You’re comfortable performing ad hoc financial analysis using data reporting tools
- Experienced with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos): you can provide recommendations for strategic decision-making,
- Clear understanding of banking business issues as they pertain to and demonstrated skills in economic forecasting. Economic modelling, including computable general equilibrium modes will be an added advantage;
- Experience in presenting and selling ideas to Senior Management with strong presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Understands the bank’s priorities, business drivers, competitors and competitive strategy to help drive strategically aligned solutions, considering aspects of risk/reward.
- The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional manner is deemed essential.
- Takes clear accountability and focuses on delivery of broader corporate goals. Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
