Job Title:   Welding Supervisor (2 Job Placements)

Organisation: Sinopec (Uganda)

Duty Station: Initially start from Kampala Office and mainly on project sites (Buliisa & Nwoya)

On-boarding Date: 1 March 2022 (1) and 1 May 2022 (1).

Job Summary:  The Welding Supervisors combine management skills with an extensive knowledge of welding processes and welding economics to plan, staff, monitor, and safely deliver welding projects according to schedule and budget.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate job expectations and performance requirements to welders
  • Review and monitor work quality on project sites.
  • Develop construction procedures/method statements with integration of project specifications, QA/QC plans, HSSE plans, Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).
  • Schedule and conduct regular inspections to monitor the progress of site work as per project quality standards, procedures, and method statement.
  • Ensure that all welding meets the specified requirements before inspection is initiated
  • Ensure that welded material and consumables meet specifications
  • Coordinate with other construction discipline supervisor for co-activities to make construction performed in align with schedule, quality and HSE requirements.
  • Issue, follow up and closeout internal non-conformances when required.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in welding, metals fabrication, engineering technology, etc. with minimum 3 years similar working experience
  • Proficient in English Language and office software
  • Be familiar with construction standards.
  • Recommended Certification
  • AWS Certified Welder, AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Welding Inspector
  • Successful candidates with relevant experience and recognized expertise in large onshore/offshore oil and gas EPC projects will be preferred.
  • The working environment is multicultural and demands considerable experience in the project process working with International Clients and Contractors.
  • Strong communication skills, fluent spoken and written English, and Chinese competency will be a plus.
