Job Summary:  The Business Development Officer will be tasked with the generation of revenue for the company to achieve annual budgets through the development of assigned markets and channels as a source of profitable business through the development of strong relationships and partnerships.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In charge of accounts reconciliation with the commercial brokers
  • Constantly updating commercial brokers on new and existing products
  • Develop prompt quotation preparation and delivery to commercial brokers
  • Ensure compliance to the credit-control policy through debt collection
  • Build and develop strong strategic partnerships/ relationships within assigned markets and channels
  • Policy documents/Claims/Receipts follow up with the respective departments to ensure timely service in the commercial brokers expected timelines
  • Timely follow up of renewals 60 days prior to ensure retention of 85%
  • Develop and deliver excellent customer experience in the Commercial Brokers segment
  • Work closely with support functions to follow up on client queries and complaints
  • Prepare timely business reports as required by your supervisor.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for SGIU Business Development Officer opportunity should hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Part professional qualification in CII or AIIK or Uganda Dip. In Insurance
  • At least three years of related work experience
  • Underwriting experience is an added advantage
  • Technical skills and knowledge of the different products
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer care skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy skills with proficiency in MS Office and other office applications
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the working environment/competitors
