Job Summary: Sightsavers Uganda Country Office is currently seeking a Project Driver/Office Assistant to provide general office support to the Karamoja Inclusive Eye Health Project, which includes driving, vehicle maintenance, filing and other office tasks.
As the Project Driver/Officer Assistant you will undertake driving assignments for Sightsavers staff and project visitors, ensure that vehicle logbooks are properly maintained and compile summaries on vehicle movements and fuel utilisation as per monthly vehicle reporting form. You will also provide logistical support to the Moroto PIU, and complete messenger tasks and duties including running errands such as payment of bills, mail collection, delivery & distribution of letters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keeping the project vehicle in clean condition, properly maintained and fuelled at the designated service stations
- Develop and maintain a regular schedule for vehicles’ servicing and insurance.
- Receive and direct UCO visitors in absence of the Project Officer, providing information where needed.
- In liaison with Programme Officers, distribute send documents to Partners.
- Provide administrative support in filing, photocopying and binding documents
- Support FAO to follow up receipt of local and UK orders, distribute to Partners accordingly
- This is a highly varied and involved role and the above is not an exhaustive list of duties or required professional skills.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- As the successful candidate you will possess a clean and valid Ugandan driving licence, hold at least a UCE certificate (or equivalent), have previous experience working for a reputable private form or an NGO, and have 3 year accident-free driving record.
