About US:
The Busoga Health Forum (BHF) is the independent voice for health professionals in the Busoga subregion in Eastern Uganda. BHF advocates for the improvement and maintenance of personal and community health through the development of community-centered interventions and evidence-based policies. BHF is a think tank, generating evidence to drive health policies to improve the health and development of individuals in Busoga and other regions in Uganda.
BHF’s focus areas include: improvement in quality health care services, community mobilization and sensitization, training and continuous career skill development for healthcare workers, economic empowerment, adolescent sexual reproductive health, school health programs for students and pupils, immunization, nutrition, advocacy and health research.
Job Summary: The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer is responsible for project monitoring and impact measurement, ensuring that Busoga Health Forum realizes the impact of its projects and activities in the community. They will play a key role in facilitating inputs from project staff, partners, and other stakeholders in project design and measurement of activities. Additionally, the M&E Officer will develop a plan to track, update, and ensure the accuracy of M&E data in order to inform strategic decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in M&E planning and methodology
- Participate in and provide support to project design activities including development of project theories of change and strategic frameworks (e.g. results frameworks, log frames)
- Develop a monitoring and evaluation plan
- Help determine performance and impact indicators and targets
- Provide support to proposal development for M&E components
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience developing a monitoring and evaluation plan, e.g, defining goals or performance indicators and establishing how data for each will be collected, using qualitative and quantitative methodologies*
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including proficiency using software packages such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc*
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to ensure internal and external collaborators achieve a time-bound goal or project*
- Familiarity with data platforms, databases, or select technologies to capture and organize data
- Prior experience developing data collection tools, such as surveys or interviews
- Experience in monitoring project activities, outputs, and progress towards anticipated result
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to develop monthly, quarterly, or annual reports
- Experience presenting evaluation findings and project results to donors or other stakeholders
- Strong team player
- Attentive to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to adapt to new environments
