About US:

The National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Data Bank, (NAGRC&DB) is a body corporate under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries whose mandate is to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda.

 

Job Summary: To participate in contributing to the overall performance of the Small Ruminants unit.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Participate in the implementation of projects and programs for enhanced goat and sheep reproduction and breeding that ensure the best results
  • Participate in maintaining breeding records for data generation and gene repository iii. Participate in the care of goats and sheep under the projects and programs including their shelter, health, reproduction, growth, breeding and nutrition
  • Apply assisted reproductive technologies and other appropriate measures as developed
  • Provide technical support on outreach programs to enhance breeder and farmer production and productivity
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisors





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine or animal science from a recognized institution
  • Should have good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Working experience in livestock production of at least two (02) years from a reputable organization
