Job Summary: The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Officer supports the general ICT functions related to hardware, software and networks in Samaritan’s Purse Uganda (SPUG).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and support SPUG’s ICT equipment and collaborate with local service and equipment providers.
- Ensure that all security software is up to date.
- Install new software as per Samaritan’s Purse ICT requests; install local and network printers.
- Ensure redundant on-site and off-site backups of mission critical and legally required auditable data as needed; ensure staff computers are backing up.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues in collaboration with SP international HQ.
- Maintain awareness of local legal ICT requirements and ensure compliance of SPUG with the same. Provide support and train users on ICT software and equipment provided by the organization.
- Ensure and maintain a stable internet connection for each site that requires one; monitor networks and report issues to the international headquarters.
- Provide supervisors with weekly status updates.
- Ensure proper assets dispatch to users and assets tracking for inventory purpose. Ensure proper storage of IT equipment.
- Conduct all activities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, in coordination with team members, other departments and in line with SPUG, government and donor policies and best practices.
- Participate in morning devotions and maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, project stakeholders, project beneficiaries, and the general public.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must agree with and uphold the mission and objectives of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in ICT or related field; training in networks, support & hard-/software maintenance.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in similar role within the NGO sector
- Strong communication skills, with experience in training facilitation. Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Proactive, adaptable and results-oriented; good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and meet deadlines in an ever-changing environment. Trustworthy, with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel to the field. A generous and serving spirit.
- Commitment to empathy, integrity, responsibility, transparency and efficiency.
