Masaka Diocesan Medical Services Ltd is a registered company limited by guarantee and not having share capital. The Company has undertaken to be the Distributer of JMS in the Greater Masaka region, involved in storage and sale of products, including pharmaceuticals, medical and surgical sundries, equipment and instrument as well as laboratory supplies. Therefore MDMSL distributes pharmaceutical supplies exclusively from JMS assured of their quality, safety and availability at all times to her consumers. MDMSL supplies these products to Government health facilities, PNFPs, Private for Profit health facilities, NGOs and well as pharmacies and drug shops within Greater Masaka.
Job Summary: The Medical Officer will be the Technical advisor in the coordination of Masaka Diocesan Health Facilities; ensuring that health facilities are compliant to the MoH and WHO standards guided by the building blocks for health system strengthening services. S/he is in charge of quality assurance for all MDMS programs and advisor on all clinical services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working with Diocesan Health Coordinator to identify gaps in regulatory compliance at the lower health facilities, and design training initiatives depending on identified gaps.
- Support the management of medicines and human resource for better accessibility, equitability, quality and efficiency
- In Charge of quality improvement with a responsibility for ensuring that all programs have ongoing Quality improvement plans based on the quarterly assessment.
- Offering onsite technical support supervision to health facilities Provide technical and supervisory support to health staff while implementing routine program activities like training and mentorship of health staff and HUMC on health systems
- Oversee HMIS data gathering, documentation and reporting all health services activities using standard tools under guidance of DHC.
- Monitoring submission of reports on weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis that will be indicative of program progress during implementation.
- Solicit funding for health facilities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Medicine and Surgery
- Must have a passion for public health and health service management
- One year of professional experience working with health systems.
- Demonstrable quantitative skills, including familiarity with financial accounting
- Proven skills in networking, collaboration, community consultations and organizational development
- Excellent reporting, communication and representation skills.
