About Project:
The KCBF-GIZ, Employment for Development (E4D) Project is a joint KCBF and GIZ Project that seeks to increase employability and income generation through skills and enterprise development in the construction sector in Uganda for a total of 2,000 youth. To support E4D Project entrepreneurs in developing strategies for market acquisition, product selling, branding and business plan development.
Job Summary: The Business Development Officer – Accounting will provide accounting support to the E4D Project beneficiaries during the business incubation and development phase.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Educate beneficiaries on the benefits of bookkeeping and accounting.
- Create physical books of accounts such as cash books, petty cash vouchers, payment vouchers, receipt books, invoice books for the businesses.
- Support the businesses in the creation of financial reports such as profit and loss accounts, sales reports, debtor’s reports, stock reports.
- Support the businesses in the practice of assets and inventory management.
- Support the businesses in effective and routine budgeting for their enterprise.
- Assist the businesses in the costing of products and management of the expenses.
- Train the entrepreneurs on financial literacy
- Support the businesses on tax registration and filing of different tax returns.
- Assist the businesses in opening and maintaining KCB Bank Accounts.
- Monitor the businesses’ cash flows and identify areas for remedial actions to keep the businesses on track.
- Conduct loan post disbursement call visits where the officer will analyze and interpret the books of accounts/Business receivables as relates to loan disbursed. In addition, Manage Non- Performing Loans within stipulated guidelines.
- In liaison with the branch team conduct the loan administration, loan recovery and follow up in ensuring the loan portfolio at risk is maintained within the Bank recommended standards.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or any other related discipline from a recognized and reputable institution. A Master’s Degree in Law, Business, Economics, Development is an added advantage.
- A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience
- Experience in Financial services, Knowledge management and people management.
- Leadership experience with a strategic perspective and commercial awareness.
- Excellent knowledge of the workings, challenges and opportunities of micro and small businesses.
- Excellent knowledge of financial services and how to set up of companies.
- Management of partnerships
- Working knowledge and understanding of the three sectors of focus; Manufacturing, Construction and Agriculture.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail
- Computer literate
- Analytical with excellent decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Team player with concern for the community
