Job Summary:  The Behaviour and Psycho social Officer  will coordinate the Psycho-social services on behalf of Mubende Regional Referral Hospital and ensure the provision of effective and efficient Psycho-social services to HIV/AIDS clients, families, and communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate psychosocial activities at the facility including screening, testing, and counseling
  • Coordinate community-based psychosocial activities with PHA Networks, CBO’s, Police CFPU, and Legal aid sessions for AGYW and children.
  • Coordinate facility psychosocial teams in ensuring children with index clients, adolescents and youth, pregnant mothers, and key populations are targeted for HTS and ensuring facility targets are met.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement strategies for performance management.
  • Develop mechanisms for effective tracking and reporting on psychosocial programs at the facility.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling
  • Certificate in Health Management or related health field, HIV/AIDS Counselling
  • Training in Gender, Key population and HTS and NEW ART Guidelines
  • Five years of work clinical counseling and Social work experience, two of which are in a supervisory position
  • Should be a registered member of Uganda Counselling Association (UCA)
  • Knowledge in HIV/AIDS care and management
  • Knowledge of Ministry of health and local government systems
