Job Summary:  The successful person, after training and delegation of duties, will be responsible for monitoring, packaging and dispensing of study drugs, anti – retroviral drugs and drugs for treatment of opportunistic infections.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The holder of this position will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Pharmacist with guidance from the Clinic Division Director, and will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Maintain professional GCP/HSP accreditation and complete study specific training as required.
  • Identify the drug requirements for the institution (study specific drug requirements, general drug requirements).
  • Adhere and enforce general and study specific internal drug policies and procedures.
  • Stock management (Forecast/ requisition/ stock/ verification/ assessment/ storage/ dispense).
  • Maintenance of pharmacy/drug storage physical infrastructure
  • Report to stakeholders on medicines usage/management and provide pharmacological information to the clinic team and patients/participants.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary study team to perform delegated duties and ensure timely communication and coordination.
  • Participate in any other related duties reasonably assigned by the relevant authorities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a degree in Pharmacy with at least 2 years’ working experience in a busy pharmaceutical setup including some research related experience.
  • The desired person must be able and willing to learn quickly, have good organisational skills, multitask, have strong documentation skills and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with training in GCP/HSP will be an added advantage.
