Job Title:    Agroforestry Expert

Organisation: World Agroforestry (ICRAF)

About US:

World Agroforestry (ICRAF) is a Centre of scientific and development excellence that harnesses the benefits of trees for people and the environment. Leveraging the world’s largest repository of agroforestry science and information, we develop knowledge practices, from farmers’ fields to the global sphere, to ensure food security and environmental sustainability. ICRAF is the only institution conducting globally significant agroforestry research in and for all of the developing tropics. Knowledge produced by ICRAF allows governments, development agencies, and farmers to use the power of trees to make farming livelihoods more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable at scales. We are headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and operate six regional programmes in Sub0Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America.

On 1 January 2019, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF), two of the world’s leading organizations focused on forestry and agroforestry, merged in order to provide the evidence and innovative solutions needed to scale up investment in sustainable development and address the global challenges of our time.

The IKI Trees on Farms (TonF) project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety under the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The project is active in Indonesia, Uganda, Rwanda, Peru and Honduras. The project uses various approaches to improve the knowledge of TonF. By integrating indigenous and local knowledge, the project provides relevant stakeholders with contextspecific, tree-based measures that can contribute to biodiversity conservation, the avoidance of emissions and adaptation to climate change impacts. The project is also supporting the integration of sustainable management and agricultural biodiversity into the fields of policy and planning. IKI TonF website;
