About US:

UMA SACCO Ltd, is a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society for Medical Doctors in Uganda which was established following a resolution of the Uganda Medical Association (U.M.A) AGM of June 2011 in line with the Cooperative societies Act CAP 112 and the Cooperative societies Regulations 1993 with a vision of “A highly ethical and socio-economically empowered society of medical doctors in Uganda”. UMA SACCO has its Head Office in Kampala but extending services to all members wherever they may be in and out of Uganda.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinate management staff to effectively implement the SACCO’s strategic plan.
  • Monitor the achievement of the SACCO’s strategic objectives
  • Oversee compliance with policies set by Committee, government regulations, contracts, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure safe custody of the institution’s assets
  • Ensure formulation of policy regarding internal controls and financial management.
  • Secure capital as required.
  • Ensure availability of financial resources and their appropriate use.
  • Coordinate budgetary planning and ensure that accurate and timely financial reports are always available.
  • Ensure timely implementation of human resources policies
  • Spearhead all decisions of hiring, termination, and salary increments.
  • Guide and direct all staff members.
  • Ensure staff understand vision and mission of the institution
  • Overall responsible to members and Committee
  • Ensure timely management committee meetings
  • Take minutes during management committee meetings and ensure their confirmation in the subsequent meeting
  • Advice the institution’s Committee on any decision taken that may affect the general operation of the institution.
  • Any other duties that may be delegated by the Committee.
  • Serve as institution’s Chief Executive
  • Enter into contracts on behalf of the institution e.g signing loan agreements.
  • Signatory to all accountable documents
  • Recommend institution of legal proceedings/defence/compromise for the interest of the SACCO
  • Ensure that good relations are maintained


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of a University Degree in a business related course, with Knowledge in finance or banking
  • At least three years of experience as a manager in a reputable financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management, financial planning, banking and credit
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Age: 26 -38 Years
