privately owned radio station that was founded under the ideology of quality
information for community development.

 

Job Summary:  The Assistant General Manager will be responsible
for all aspects of operations at the RADIO STATION, to day-to-day staff
management and guests, an ambassador for the RADIO. Managing the
administrative, technical, program, and sales aspects of a station. Accountable
to station owners and senior management, and striving  to maintain the work environment,
personality, and financial viability of the business. The incumbent will provide
leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service
culture, maximized operations and customer satisfaction. Work Very closely with
the owners and other stake holders. The jobholder will also be responsible for
managing the radios management team (HOD’s) and overall radio targets to
deliver an excellent customer experience and ensure profitability and customer
satisfaction.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·
Ensuring
compliance of all broadcast programs to both local and international regulatory
laws.

·
Maintaining
accurate records, regularly preparing and communicating reports.

·
Managing
day-to-day operations, including station inventory and supplies, safety and
security, and space allocation/utilization

·
Actively
participating in defining short and long-term goals, policies, and procedures;
monitoring all activity to identify necessary changes

·
Maintaining
a diverse staff, adhering to the station’s mission; delivering assignments;
recruiting, scheduling, and training staff; resolving employee concerns.

·
Coordinating
community volunteer program and corporate social responsibility programs.

·
Providing
support for senior station management

·
Oversee
the operations functions of the radio station, as per the Organizational chart.

·
Hold
regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments.

·
Ensure
full compliance to radio operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and
service standards.

·
Handling
complaints, and oversee the service recovery procedures.

·
Responsible
for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the radios
annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan.

·
Manage
on-going profitability, ensuring revenue and customer satisfaction targets are
met and exceeded.

·
A strong
understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful
strategies

·
Closely
monitor the business reports on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly.

·
Ensure
that monthly financial sales revenues are on target and accurate.

·
Prepare
a monthly financial reporting for the owners and stake holders.

·
Coordination
with HOD’s for the execution of all activities and functions.

·
Provide
effective leadership to team members.

·
Lead in
all aspects of business planning.

·
Corporate
client handling, take part in new client acquisition along with the sales team
whenever required.

·
Championing
radio programs and practices that will generate revenue for the business owners

·
Execute
any other duties as assigned by the line manager

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·
The applicant
must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, mass communication,
Communications, or a related field.

·
At least
five years of experience in broadcasting facility in a senior management
position.

·
Facility
management experience

·
Broadcast
sales, communication, sales management, and mentoring experience, with a proven
track record of success in the radio  and
/or industry

·
Knowledge
of both international and local broadcasting regulations

·
Experience
with inventory management, promotions, and collections

·
Highly
developed managerial/leadership skills, including training, coaching,
delegating, and motivating staff

·
Passionate
and goal-oriented, particularly toward sales, sales training and education, and
client relations

·
Ability
to communicate well

·
Knowledge
of on-air and remote broadcasting processes, public radio principles,
procedures, operations, and standards

·
Knowledge
of fiscal management principles; ability to define short- and long-term goals
and develop/manage strategies

·
Ability
to operate radio station equipment

·
Knowledge
of current radio trends
