About Project:

HI Uganda Mission with funding from Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid (DGD), is going to implement the BAHIA project (Agile response by the Belgian Alliance for Humanitarian International Action to control the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate its multi-dimensional effects on humanitarian crisis) in West-Nile settlements of Imvepi and omugo extension. BAHIA is a consortia project comprising of 7 organisations of OXFAM which is the lead, PLAN, Belgian Red Cross/Flanders RC, MDM, Caritas, HI BAHIA will contribute to the preparedness and response to the primary and secondary impacts of COVID-19 by promoting public health and supporting the protection of vulnerable populations from contamination to COVID-19 as well as increased protection risks while restoring their dignity and capacity to meet their basic needs

 

NB: The project is planned to be implemented up to December 2021.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the HI BAHIA Project Manager and in coordination with the Consortium Management Unit and the technical support of the HI Technical Unit, the Social Worker will;

Ensure planning and field coordination of project activities with internal and external stakeholders

·         Participate in planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluating social work activities in the community

·         Participate in the weekly or monthly HI activity planning meetings

·         Develop daily, weekly, and monthly field activity plans

·         Participate in field activities with the project team,

·         Implement field activities in collaboration with other consortium partners respecting the referral pathway.

·         Prepare and submit monthly case report to team leaders and project manager

Implement, facilitate, and follow-up project activities following the project implementation plan

·         Participate in the mobilization of individuals according to agreed vulnerable criteria for the project

·         Interview individual and families and identify needs

·         Develop case management profile of individual according to the situation and determine needs and goals, and intervention (Person-centered approach)

·         Develop an individual case action plan according to the needs and limits of the project design

·         Fill approved assessment forms and referral forms as needed

·         Referral of cases to relevant services in and out of HI

·         Organize regular case follow-up and update case follow-up form according to documentation guidelines

·         Coordinating case management plan including individual, treatment, and maintaining ongoing contact with relevant actors’ link to individual needs based on the plan of action

·         Link with different stakeholders in the community and participate in relevant coordination meeting in the settlement (in coordination with the project team)

·         Identify different referral points and processes within the settlement and host communities

·         Discharge cases according to agreed discharge criteria

Participate in data collection, reporting, and other MEAL activities of the project

·         Maintain complete data for each person, including detailed descriptions of services provided and evolution of the case; ensuring that all case files, and other records, strictly comply with policies, regulations, and procedures

·         Ensure confidentiality and respect all guidelines and documentation within the project;

·         Produce weekly activity reports and contribute to the development of project reports using HI Uganda MEAL templates

·         Ensure proper documentation and reporting of each case and data analysis in collaboration with the PM and MEAL officer

·         Participate in project review workshops

Demonstrate Ethical and professional practice, and ensure to uphold HI values in their daily work

·         Do No Harm.

·         Report any incident or act that causes any harm to the beneficiary or others.

·         Respect beneficiaries and their families’ space and confidentiality.

·         Always respect a refusal for an interview or any intervention.

·         Children are assessed and treated in the presence of an adult family member. Always ask permission to touch or to apply any treatment or exercise on a patient.

·         Act professionally always. Remember that you represent both your profession and HI in the fields and in front of beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Respect of HI identity, rules and policies

·         Know, understand, apply and respect HI code of conduct and ethics, HI mandate and values, HI rules and operating procedure, HI policies (child protection policy, policy and mechanism for the prevention of and fight against bribery, the protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse policy) and make sure they are known, understood, applied and respected by its team

·         Know, understand, apply and respect HI security rules and make sure they are known, understood and applied by her/his team

·         Regular refresher trainings are organized

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·         The ideal candidate for the Humanity & Inclusion Social Worker job should hold an Honors Degree in Social Work and Social Administration (SWASA) or Bachelor’s degrees related to MHPSS, community development, Community Based Rehabilitation, and other disability studies.

·         At least three (3) year experience as a social worker

·         Worked in both hospital and community setting

·         Experience in the fields of disability, inclusion, access to services, and social development

·         Experience working in the refugee context

·         Able to analyse, think critically and creatively, and make decisions

·         Strong interest in the fields related to HI mandate

 

Condition:

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Length of contract: 9 months
