Officer, Estate and Works

Makerere University,
Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher
learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became
an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is
composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000
undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide
technical guidance to the Director on procurement of new vehicle and disposal
of old and/or obsolete vehicles;

·       
Coordinate
operation and maintenance of all vehicles and track daily allocations;

·       
Coordinate
the servicing all University vehicles;

·       
Coordinate
licensing and re-licensing schedules for all vehicles and their allocations in
or out of the University;

·       
Issue
fuel and maintain proper records;

·       
Supervise
drivers and provide for their welfare;

·       
Oversee
traffic in the University;

·       
Maintain
proper records on all vehicles servicing schedules and records of all garages
that service/ repair University Vehicles;

·       
And any
other official duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Makerere University Transport & Logistics Officer, Estate
and Works job placement must hold a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or Fleet
Management field from a recognized University or Institution.

·       
At least
two years of relevant working experience in a reputable organization.

·       
Strong
communication, leadership and interpersonal skills;

·       
Computer
literate;

·       
Knowledge
in project management, planning and budgeting

·       
Age:
Below 40 years
