Director/Chief Executive Officer

 

About US:

Uganda Electricity
Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk purchase of
electricity from the generating companies and selling the electricity in bulk
to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for
all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  The Manager, Human Resource &
Administration is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing the Human
Resource and Administration Department operations including talent recruitment
and assignment, administration of benefits and entitlements, payroll
management, HR policy development, staff health and welfare, Strategic Human
Resource planning, training and development, succession planning as well as
management of the Company’s training centre based in Jinja which plays a
pivotal role in training and supporting the development of its employees. ln
addition, this role is responsible for general office administration and
support, records and archive management, property management, and; monitoring
and ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation relating to these
responsibilities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Develop
and implement progressive policies, procedures and plans relating to Human
Resource, and Staff Development according to good human resource practices.

·       
Formulate
employment policy to guide the process of selecting human resource.

·       
Identify
labour relations issues within the Company and determine resolutions to deal
with them where possible or recommend to Management for decision making.

·       
Initiate,
develop and supervise implementation of welfare and administrative systems and
procedures in line with Staff Regulations.

·       
Develop
and manage an appropriate performance management system that will enable the
Company to reduce production costs and improve performance standards.

·       
initiate
and develop organizational development interventions to deal with the Company’s
problems and seek for consultancy where necessary.

·       
Ensure
compliance with the Company’s values, policies and standards, and ensure
compliance with all statutory requirements.

·       
Design
and implement an appropriate Change Management framework for the Company.

·       
Provision
of sound advice to Management, Line Supervisors and staff on people issues.

·       
Implement
the Balanced Score Card under the Company’s Corporate Business Plan.

·       
Organize,
lead and manage the Human Resource and Administration Department in accordance
with the Staff Regulations, other Company Polices and the applicable National
Laws and Regulations.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in either of the following
disciplines Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Law, Social
Sciences or Management from a reputable institution of Learning is a must.

·       
University
Degree with Honours either of the following disciplines

·       
Human
Resource Management, Business Administration, Law. Social Sciences, Social Work
& Social Administration, Organisational Psychology. Public Administration
or Engineering.

·       
Professional
qualification in Human Resource Management is a must.

·       
Membership
of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU) is an added
advantage.

·       
Should
have at least eight years of experience in Human Resource Management at Senior
Management Level with a highly engaged workforce.

·       
Should
have demonstrated experience in managing large teams, and in inspiring and
leading transformational processes and culture change in an organization.

·       
Should
have in depth knowledge of Labour Laws and handling Employee Relations.

·       
Should
have an understanding of significant legal and commercial issues within Human
Resource Management.

·       
Familiarity
with the electricity and energy sector is an added advantage.

·       
Exemplary
track record of ethical behaviour and leadership by example.

·       
Ability
to work as part of a team and to develop subordinates.

·       
Strategic
thinking and ability to work and produce accurate results in an environment
with multiple and challenging tasks.

·       
Excellent
interpersonal, particularly staff/management relation, oral and written
communication skills.

·       
Must
possess a valid driving permit.

·       
Age: Below
51 years
