Job Summary:  The Gender
& Social Inclusion Coordinator, WASH SDG programme will provide gender
technical leadership in the WASH planning, implementation and monitoring to
influence gender equality and social inclusion through our WASH interventions,
both for women and girls, as well as across social (ethnic, caste, class)
groups. He/she will be working on empowering socially marginalised and excluded
groups especially women, girls and PWDs in the community. This will be in line
with the gender transformative WASH approach to be developed, tested and
implemented to achieve Gender equality and social inclusiveness in WASH SDG
programming.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
The
Gender & Social Inclusion Coordinator will work closely with the WASH SDG
project team to conduct a project baseline, prepare & manage annual Gender
Transformative implementation plans and budgets for WASH SDG project.

·       
Conduct
Gender analysis to understand gendered inequalities and exclusion issues to
inform the WASH SDG gender transformative programming.

·       
Work
with the M&E team to develop WASH SDG gender sensitive tools to support
implementation, and M&E in line with the project documents.

·       
Support
in the development of WASH Gender sensitive project indicators and ensure the
result oriented reporting in line with project outcomes.

·       
Build
the capacity of staff and partners in Gender transformative programming to
integrate Gender in to their project implementation and monitoring.

·       
Provide
technical support to the project team in applying the Gender Transformation
Marker and localization of gender WASH sensitive packages into community
systems.

·       
Spearhead
on engaging community structures especially Cultural and religious institutions
on negative social norms and practices that impact on women and girls’
realisation of WASH rights GBV in the community.

·       
Document
and share best practices in gender transformative behaviour change, GBV and
child protection in line with WASH project outcomes.

·       
Work
closely work WASH SDG PM and the Gender Taskforce to advance gender equality
and inclusion in WASH project implementation.

·       
Prepare,
manage and support the implementation quarterly plans and budgets in line with
the WASH SDG project documents.

·       
Ensure
Gender transformative approach in -WASH project is integrated in all aspects of
intervention to challenge negative social norms and beliefs across community
structures

·       
Adhere
to the Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct and reporting any CPP issues;

·       
Responsible
for the implementation of the CPP standards as they apply to area of
responsibility plus the development of actions to address identified gaps and
monitoring their effectiveness.

·       
Ensure
that all Plan Partners, Visitors and Associates in area of responsibility are
provided with and have signed and returned a copy of the child protection
policy.  Inform the partners, visitors
and associates that they must comply with the policy in all contacts and
communications with children during their visit.

·       
Ensure
that children and families in area of responsibility are aware of the child
protection policy and applicable local procedures, so that they know what
behaviours they can expect from Plan staff, associates and visitors and whom to
report any concerns;

·       
Ensures
that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender
Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the
principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation
Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This
includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and
understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s
Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns
are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a Degree in Social sciences, development Studies,
Adult and  Community Education, Gender
and Development Studies or any related area

·       
At least
three to five years of professional experience in implementation of Gender-WASH
programs in a reputable organization preferably an INGO.

·       
Implementation
of Gender WASH programmes in sensitive and transformative programming.

·       
Facilitating
gender WASH capacity building/trainings

·       
Experience
in gender mainstreaming

·       
Dealing
with Problems:

·       
Dealing
with gender myths at all levels

·       
Capacity
to deal with people of diverse cultures

·       
Good
communication and interpersonal skills

·       
Strong
advocacy and lobbying skills

·       
Hands on
experience in facilitation and gender analysis skills

·       
Demonstrated
skills and experience in proposal development, report writing

·       
Computer
literate (Microsoft office)

Demonstrate
