undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.

 

Job Summary:  The Assistant Legal Officer, Directorate Of
Legal Affairs will mainly manage day-to-day operations of the Directorate by
carrying out administrative functions and providing clerical support to the
legal team.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Assist
in the conduct of legal-related research;

·       
Participate
in compiling relevant recorded cases in courts of law;

·       
Assist
in filing Court documents;

·       
Represent
the Directorate in Evaluation Committee meetings and Bid openings;

·       
Draft
Memoranda, Articles of Association and floating Companies;

·       
Assist
in following up with Court matters, fix cases for hearing and keep the Legal
Officers updated of their schedules;

·       
Assist
in identifying Law reports, Legislation, Books and other reading materials for
the Legal Unit Library;

·       
Keep
records of all Council Policies, Statutes, Rules and Regulations;

·       
Assist
in interviewing and collecting information necessary to draft pleadings;

·       
Liaise
with External Lawyers, University Secretary and Legal Office on legal matters;

·       
Update
Legal Officers on cases in Court;

·       
Liaise
with external lawyers and University Legal Officers on pending cases and Court
matters;

·       
Provide
clerical service to the Staff Tribunal

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized
Institution;

·       
A
Diploma in Legal Practice;

·       
An
Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with a valid Practicing Certificate;

·       
Age: Below 40 years
