About US:

Welthungerhilfe
Innovation Unit in Bonn developed jointly with the country team in Zimbabwe the
AgriShare Application that has been running successfully since March 2019. To
evaluate the economic viability of the application in Uganda, Welthungerhilfe
could secure funds from Happel Foundation for a pilot project. The project aims
at providing the economic proof of concept for the Ugandan case and establish a
social business for the Application in Uganda. To accomplish this the Team is
looking for a local “Consultant Finance AgriShare”.

 

Purpose and Task of the Consultancy: In close collaboration with the Roving Head
of Project Digital Innovation and Consultant Director Agrishare the Consultant
Finance AgriShare shall fulfill the following tasks:

  • Develop financial action plan and oversee financial budgeting and
    forecasting for AgriShare business
  • Liaise with Consultant Director AgriShare to manage AgriShare
    business development activities according to financial plan to achieve
    profitability and revenue.
  • Carry out the day-to-day financial operations within AgriShare (cash
    management, payroll, invoicing, and other transactions)
  • Prepare AgriShare’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
    (Business accounts and donor reporting)
  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for
    stakeholders and partners
  • Provide financial support and advice to team in closing business
    deals
  • Support AgriShare business analysis, validation of plans, and ad-hoc
    requests
  • Investigate ways to improve profitability and analyze markets for
    business opportunities while as well achieving positive social impact
  • Manage AgriShare’s financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting
    systems and achieve monthly targets
  • Assess and advise on AgriShare’s alternative revenue streams.
  • Ensure that customers pay and do so easily and efficiently
  • Research and recommend potential financing partners or funders and
    strategize on acquiring them.
  • Maintaining an inventory for AgriShare’s property and equipment in
    good order and secure; and guidance on the personal use of items owned by
    AgriShare.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory
    requirements
  • Prepare vouchers in line with Welthungerhilfe rules and regulations,
    for donor accounting
  • Do any other role required and/or that may be allocated by
    supervisor

 

Timeframe of Consultancy: The Consultant shall be contracted for an initial period of 3 months
starting from as soon as possible. The consultant shall provide a maximum of 20
working days per month with flexible working hours.

 

Note:
Depending on the progress of the business registration of the AgriShare
business, the contract may be terminated earlier or be extended.

 

Results / Outputs of the Consultancy: The consultant shall agree on a monthly basis
with Director AgriShare on monthly deliverables jointly with the rest of the
Team and the Roving Head of Project Digital Innovations.

The consultant shall
be paid upon:

  • Achievement of those deliverable,
  • The submission of the monthly narrative report (jointly with rest of
    the team)
  • Once all monthly balances have been cleared with appropriate
    receipts at the country office in Kampala (jointly with the rest of the
    team).

 

The monthly
deliverables will be developed in accordance with the annual project goals:

  • Established AgriShare Uganda social business
  • Revised business plan basing on pilot
  • Revised financial model basing on the pilot
  • Revised market study basing on the pilot
  • Target number of farmers registered as users
  • Target number of registered resource owners
  • Target number of beneficiaries
  • Annual revenue

 

Lines of Communication: The Consultant shall be reporting to the Consultant Director AgriShare.

 

Renumeration: The
consultant shall be paid on monthly basis based on the daily rate offered by
the consultant, for a maximum 20 working days per month.

The consultant shall
be responsible for Taxation.

The quoted daily
rate should be in EUR.

The consultant will
be reimbursed transportation costs by the country office in Uganda upon
presentation of receipts.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

 Profile of the Consultant

  • BSc/MSc degree in Finance or Accounting or related field; CPA a plus
  • 3-8 years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into
    actionable information
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with customers and as
    well senior-level business partners
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL,
    Access, etc.
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
