AIDS Information Centre (AIC) is a national Non-Governmental Organization
that provides high quality HIV Testing Services (HTS), HIV Prevention, Care
& Treatment, Sexual Reproductive Health Services and Gender Based Violence
(GBV) Services among others through 8 regional branches, selected hospitals,
health centers and antenatal clinics.

 

Job Summary:  AIC
Seeks to recruit a Clinical Officer for its clinic in Kabale under the UPMB
Local Service Delivery Activity (LSDA) project. The Clinical Supervisor will
take charge of the AIC regional clinic, coordinate and supervise the activities
therein, and ensure that the necessary HIV prevention, care and treatment
services are effectively provided to clients

 

Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 

  • Supervising the clinical services at the
    health facility, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients
  • Prepare work plans and budgets for the
    provision of services at the regional clinic
  • Ensure staff adherence to professional
    and service codes of conduct and ethics; and promote the vision, mission
    and the values of AIC as expressed in the policies, regulations &
    guidelines of the Organization.
  • Ensure the functionality of health
    management information system so as to produce quality weekly, monthly
    reports that are submitted timely.
  • Organize resources required for the
    provision of services at the clinic
  • Ensure adequate provision of medical
    care to clients
  • Provide HIV/AIDS prevention and care
    services at the regional clinic
  • Ensure quality and other clinical
    standards and guidelines adhered to in the provision of services
  • Evaluate the performance of clinic and
    the clinic staff regularly
  • Provide information to the Regional
    Manager on the competencies of the staff of the clinic
  • Inputs into the formulation of AIC
    clinical guidelines
  • Ensures that medicines, medical
    equipment, medical supplies, non-medical supplies, and all other resources
    allocated to the health facility are put to the intended use and are
    accounted for
  • Avails resources to the clinic to ensure
    effective and efficient utilization and proper accountability
  • Ensure that lessons learnt from the
    clinic are appropriately documented and shared out
  • Send periodic reports on the activities
    of the clinic to the Regional Manager

 


Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should preferably
    hold a Clinical Officer’s Diploma
  • Have at least three years’ experience in
    clinical work
  • Have at least previous exposure/
    experience in HIV/AIDS management including HIV reporting systems
  • Be knowledgeable about the rights of
    people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Have knowledge of research methods –
    both quantitative and qualitative
  • Be able to speak the local languages of
    the area
