Job Summary:  The Project Assistant – Community Based Child
Protection will provide grassroot support to Community volunteers, Community
based facilitators and Community Based structures to strengthen community
involvement and participation in case management, case plan implementation,
monitoring and documentation of Unaccompanied & Separated children in accordance
with a well-defined framework of policies and procedures under immediate
supervision.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Management;

·       
Responsible
for supervision of child protection committees and community- based volunteers.

·       
Leads
efforts for capacity strengthening for child protection committees and
community-based volunteers.

·       
Monitors
community-based child protection interventions by CPCs, undertaking community
visits, providing regular coaching, guidance and mentorship to the structure
for child protection

·       
Responsible
to timely child protection information dissemination and collection of feedback
from the CPCs

·       
Responsible
for reporting on community-based child protection

·       
Coordinates
with other LWF staff and partners to ensure community-led, sustainable child
protection initiatives

·       
Supervise
the community-based volunteers, facilitators and structures to ensure quality
of community-based child protection interventions.

·       
Generate
and submit all standard reports including all weekly reports and statistical data
on community-based child protection to the Senior Child protection Officer.

·       
Undertake
the documentation and data management for all community-based volunteers and
structures

·       
Support
the identification or recruitment of CBF/Volunteers and CPCs according to LWF’s
procedures for adequate numbers at all times for community-based child
protection.

Technical and
Capacity Building;

·       
Enhance
and train community facilitators/ volunteers and structures in child protection
child protection.

·       
Support
CBF and community structures to prevent violence, exploitation, neglect and
abuse of children

·       
Maintain
standards for child participation, and engage CPCs to promote

·       
Support
the Senior Child Protection officer and M&E Assistant in establishing and
maintaining a Monitoring and Evaluation system in relation to community-based
child protection.

·       
Ensure
that all technical information pertinent to community-based child protection is
obtained, documented and disseminated to staff as required.

·       
Enhance
synergies within the communities to achieve integration and attainment of
community-based initiatives.

·       
Establish
and liaise closely with UNHCR, OPM and partners agencies regarding
documentation of community-based initiatives to ensure and promote a
coordinated approach to case management.

·       
Participate
in weekly supervision meetings with all caseworkers, providing technical advice
on community-based child protection.

·       
Ensure
staff gaps and training need in community-based child protection approach are
identified and address such issues with the SCPO.

·       
Review
and analyse trends in community-based child protection and provide strategies
to improve community support and participation into CP programs.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the LWF World Service Project Assistant – Community Based
Child Protection job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social work,
Social Sciences, Development studies or any related field.

·       
Two
years of experience working with Persons of Concern and local communities
preferably for child protection

·       
Demonstrate
well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both
verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills.

·       
Must
have a sound track record to work with children (no criminal record).

·       
Must be
willing to ride a motorcycle and possess a valid riding permit.

·       
Team
player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoys working in
the field and previous work in nutrition or health related intervention is an
added advantage.

·       
Demonstrate
well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both
verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills.

·       
Able to
adhere to set security standards.
