Job Summary:  The Programme Associate (Donor Relations) primarily
carry out day–to-day partnerships activities and research. They engage with
internal stakeholders and a host of public, private sector and external
entities. These can comprise governments, UN agencies, intergovernmental
institutions and their member states, international financial institutions,
individuals, corporations, foundations and NGOs. While at HQ level Partnerships
Officers are likely to focus on either public, private sector or external
entities, those at RB and CO level may cover a whole range of such partnerships

 

The role
will support the Partnerships Officer and donor relations team to collect,
analyze and report on information that will develop new and existing government
and private sector partnerships for WFP Uganda CO programmes.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide the donor relations team with a full range of
complex support services to enable WFP senior managers develop new strategies
to maintain and increase funding from new and traditional donors.

·       
Support the donor relations team to prepare and/or
consolidate comprehensive reports, documentation, correspondences, briefing
notes, etc. and conduct research related to funding opportunities for the
country office.

·       
Support Partnerships Officer and donor relations team to
collect data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely programme
reports to enable informed decision-making and action planning by stakeholders.

·       
Contribute to the management of donor portfolios by
revising and reviewing correspondence and documentation, providing feedback and
making amendments where appropriate, to contribute to production of these
materials to time and quality standards.

·       
Highlight fundraising opportunities and resourcing issues
through briefs/advice to Programme and BPU counterparts to ensure that donor
resources are used effectively. This will be inclusive of sharing forecasts and
any other relevant information.

·       
ssess and recommend improvements to procedures and
practices, to contribute to the effective delivery of partnerships (donor
relations) support services.

·       
Coordinate tasks of junior colleagues to ensure support
services are delivered consistently and to the required standards.

·       
Manage updates and further develop internal records and
databases, specifically, salesforce to ensure information is accurate,
organized, available for others to access and compliant with all relevant
regulations and policies.

·       
Respond to specialized queries and requests for support
regarding donor compliance, using initiative and following standard processes,
to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries.

·       
Maintain relationships with internal and external
stakeholders, in order to provide an aligned, coherent service, and to identify
opportunities to collaborate/integrate processes and activities.

·       
Represent WFP at meetings at appropriate levels, sharing
information to raise awareness of the strategy and objectives of the Donor
Partnerships Team, to build support and advocate for WFP activities.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Programme Associate (Donor Relations) vacancy
must hold a bachelor’s degree

·       
At least five years of professional work experience is
required for this role. Working knowledge of the UN system is desired but not
mandatory.

·       
Has a basic understanding of government strategies.

·       
Has developed effective relationships with partners and
explored new areas to scale-up existing activities and researched new
opportunities.

·       
Has experience in collecting data, drafting resourcing
analysis, and preparing briefs for relevant teams.

·       
Has supported programme and finance teams throughout the
grant management cycle, including the effective stewardship of arising queries
and compliance with donor requirements.

·       
Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a
gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment

·       
Language: Fluency in both oral and written
communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty
station’s language, if different.

 

Competencies:

·       
Programme Lifecycle & Food Assistance: Demonstrates ability to identify key
variables and contextual factors that affect food assistance problems and
programmes throughout the lifecycle to inform quality programme design or
re-design.

·       
Transfer Modalities (Food, Cash, Vouchers): Demonstrates ability to implement, under guidance, food
assistance programmes deploying the full range of transfer modalities with an
understanding of basic principles guiding modality selection and
implementation.

·       
Broad Knowledge of Specialized Areas: Understands basic technical concepts
and data and their relevance to food assistance programmes.

·       
Emergency Programming: Displays capacity to provide inputs
into the development, implementation and realignment of high quality emergency
programmes.

·       
Strategic Policy Engagement w/Government: Understands and applies basic
principles of engagement with government counterparts at the national or local
level.
