branches country wide. The Bank offers a variety of Products and services
including; Savings, Current accounts, Loans, Money transfer services and Bills
payments to its target market which comprises of micro, small and medium
entrepreneurs, salary earners and youth.

 

Job Summary:  The Legal Officer Credit/ Securities will oversee
the securities perfection process, loan security movements and the general
administration of all loan securities presented to the company.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Receive
and register all securities delivered to the department in both manual and
online securities register.

·       
Maintain
an up-to-date securities perfection fees structure and communicate the same to
the branch network.

·       
Maintain
an update record in hard and soft copy of all security collaterals received
from branches and properly track their movement.

·       
Be a
liaison offer with the External Law firm(s) in charge of security perfection
and monitor the dispatch and return of perfected securities in line with the
Bank acceptable service levels or turnaround time.

·       
Furnish
the immediate supervisor with weekly reports on the status of perfection of
securities.

·       
Ensure
the process of replacement of misplaced securities is undertaken to avoid any
litigation for the Bank.

·       
Receive
and conduct verification (searches) of collateral documents with the authorized
government departments as and when required to.

·       
Oversee
the management of security collaterals kept at the branches, ensuring that
proper records of these documents are maintained and the periodic reports on
the status of securities are submitted to the Head of Legal by the Regional
Office.

·       
Ensure
that all securities received are forwarded to the responsible Departmental
staff for processing of searches, caveats and mortgage registrations, among
other requests.

·       
Implement
an effective custody & retrieval system of all loan securities.

·       
Receive
instructions in regards to retrieval of securities.

·       
Prepare
and issue Mortgage and Caveat Release letters on demand.

·       
Ensure
that release letters are signed off by the authorized bank Officials and duly
issued as per Finance Trust Bank guidelines.

·       
Upon
instructions from the Supervisor, draft loan documentation.

·       
Review
loan files and give necessary advice to the credit team prior to loan
disbursement.

·       
Provide
legal opinions as and when required.

·       
Handle
staff & customer enquiries in regard to securities.

·       
Conduct
legal awareness training to Bank staff.

·       
Any
other duty as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant for the Finance Trust Bank Legal Officer Credit/ Securities job
opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university.

·       
Diploma
in Legal practice from Law development Centre.

·       
At least
one year of working experience in legal practice gained from a financial
institution or a busy law firm.

·       
Good
interpersonal skills.

·       
Ability
to work well under pressure.

·       
Good
personal presentation skills.

·       
Good
teamwork skills.

·       
Willingness
to travel upcountry.
