and sanitation, health care, skills training, microcredit education, protection
to help survivors of war and natural disasters to rebuild their lives with
dignity, health care, security and self-sufficiency.

 

Job Summary:  The Protection Assistant – Boarder Point will
be responsible for conducting a range of protection activities, including
information provision, regular participatory protection assessments of
potential/selected beneficiaries and organization and implementation of
community-based activities, such as life-skills and recreational activities at
the Boarder Point.

 

The Protection
Assistant – Boarder Point will be responsible for conducting a range of
protection activities, including information provision, regular participatory
protection assessments of potential/selected beneficiaries and organization and
implementation of community-based activities, such as life-skills and
recreational activities at the Boarder Point.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Manage
the emergency response ensuring quality of activities provided to Refugees
(meeting UNHCR and Sphere standards).

·       
Maintain
general cleanliness of the Boarder Point.

·       
Maintain
updated records of new arrivals, asylum seekers and other person of concern to
UNHCR at the facility.

·       
Receive
and refer new arrivals to transit centers for accommodation. 

·       
Supervise
the preparation and serving of hot meals to the new arrivals.

·       
Provide
support to OPM and UNHCR in screening and orientation of new arrivals.

·       
Support
protection sectors (GBV, Child Protection, Legal, Psychosocial and Community
Services, Health / Medical) to perform their duties at the facility.

·       
Conduct
case by case documentation for UAMS and EVIs for new arrivals (asylum seekers,
family reunification) and at the reception center. 

·       
Support
in the distribution of non-food items to the new arrivals, asylum seekers and
family reunification cases.

·       
Ensure
safety of the new arrivals at the Boarder Point by liaising with Police and
OPM.

·       
Advise
management on protection gaps at the facility that need attention.   

·       
Supervise
guards and cleaners at Boarder Point by ensuring they perform their duties and
comply with code of conduct.

·       
Perform
any other duties assigned to you.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate for the ALIGHT Protection Assistant Boarder Point job must hold
a Bachelor’s degree in Social work, Social Sciences, Community Psychology,
Adult and Community Education and Development studies.

·       
At least
two years’ experience in working on Protection issues with an INGO

·       
Strong
experience working with vulnerable people including survivors of GBV and
victims of child abuse.

·       
Fluency
in Swahili and ability to ride a Motorcycle with a valid license (Class A) is
an added advantage.
