Job Title: Procurement Officer

Reports to: Senior Procurement Officer
About US:
Uganda Heart Institute was legally established in 2001 as a Company
limited by guarantee of its founding Bodies namely, Mulago Hospital, Ministry
of Health, Makerere University and Uganda Heart Foundation. In UHI therefore
commenced operating as a semi-autonomous Unit under Mulago Hospital. The
purpose of the registering UHI as a limited Company was to fasten the growth
and development of the Institute, by enabling it to solicit for funds and
manage its resources at source.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Liaises
with end-users and compiles all procurement requirements of the organization.
·
Guides
the suppliers on procurement procedures
·
Verifies
documentation relating to procurement and organizes the documentation for easy
use by all interested parties
·
Liaises
with Accounts to ensure availability of procurement funds and timely payments
to suppliers.
·
Prepare
draft bid documents and procurement plan;
·
Entering
sanctioned transactions entered in the procurement system for further
processing; and
·
Advising
end users on development of procurement specifications.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The
applicant must either hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in procurement
purchasing and supplies OR first degree (Honors) in Economics, Business
Administration or Commerce with Post-graduate Diploma in procurement and
supplies management
·
OR A
bachelor’s Degree in Non-supply chain management discipline, plus a post
graduate Diploma in Public Procurement Management from a recognized awarding
Institution
·
OR full
professional qualification in Supply Chain Management (CIPS) plus a post
graduate Diploma in Procurement Management from a recognized awarding
Institution
