Women’s
International Peace Centre, formerly Isis-WICCE, is a feminist organization
founded in 1974 and based in Kampala, Uganda. Our mission is to ignite women’s
leadership, amplify their voices and deepen their impact in recreating peace.
Our WEAVE model intersects research (on women’s specific experiences and
needs), evidence-based advocacy (to influence national, regional and
international policy and practice), holistic healing (to enable women’s
wellbeing and participation in peace processes), skills and movement building
(to equip WHRDs with necessary skills, build networks and facilitate exchange
of strategies to advance women’s leadership for peace.

 

Job Summary:  Under the overall guidance of the
Communications and Advocacy Coordinator, the Communications Officer will manage
the Peace Centre’s resource centre, website and Newsletter publication.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Regularly
generate and publish multimedia content (human interest stories, news items,
photos, video, audio, infographics etc) on the work of the organisation for the
website.

·       
In
liaison with other departments, manage and regularly update The Peace Centre’s
website and ensure new content is shared on social media.

·       
Compile
quarterly newsletter with diverse content highlighting the work and impact of
the organisation to its audiences.

·       
Keep the
resource centre updated with the latest information on The Peace Centre
Programmatic themes and any other relevant topics and share the updates with
stake

·       
holders;

·       
Prepare
monthly updates of new information materials received and circulate them to
staff, users and networks; Maintain an up-to-date list of useful publications.

·       
Advise
on or respond to specific needs for infographics, photos or blog graphics to
accompany website content and other publications.

·       
Support
the Communications Officer to prepare periodic analytical /descriptive reports
on progress of The Peace Centre’s Communications component in accordance The
Peace

·       
Centre’s
reporting guidelines.

·       
Represent
The Peace Centre and optimise The Peace Centre’s programmes impact in various
platforms as may be deemed relevant by the organisation.

·       
Handle
other communications tasks as assigned.

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following areas
Development Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences or any other related
fields.

·       
At least
2 – 5 years of experience working in related field

·       
Fluent
in social media and online content creation; internet related campaigns and
advocacy

·       
Excellent
verbal and written communication skills with attention to details

·       
Tech
savvy and creative

·       
Collaborative
and able to work dynamically and diligently without direct supervision

·       
Results-oriented,
interesting in learning and recommending new approaches or tech solutions.

·       
Excellent
organizational and leadership skills
